Have you seen the movie?
Ok, two things.

Puxatawny Phil is a #$#%! No shadow! That's ridiculous, because we are pumping out the snow right now. Winter will definatly be sticking around for another 6 weeks at Berkshire East and we hope you do too.
Today, by all accounts the skiing was an "A". 48 hours after the rain, the mountain is back in shape, and we are looking good. Please don't judge us by what is or is not happening on your own back 40.
Remember all those times I've told you that we don't get a lot of early season cold, but once its cold, the cold temps stick around as a micro climate here? Well, during the rain on Wednesday night, the temps barely got out of the low 30's.
That's right, we still have all of our natural snow. Plus, with our improved capacity, we are making a lot of high quality snow. So the mountain wasn't all the effected by what happened this week.
Item #2
I apologize about the lack of updates. I got nailed by the flu bug(S). I have been down and out, and the little free time I am afforded has been spent with my 7 month old. Sorry folks, but she wins this battle.
I'd like to say that February is a new month, and that we will speaking a little more frequently now.
Weather forecast.
Winter 2013 has been weird, but good. The only real negative, is that we have had a lot more snow than most of you. From 12/28/12 on, Berkshire East has had snow on the ground, while most of our skiing customers have gone through a couple of cycles of snow to no snow.
Recently, there have been quite a few snow storms that have shown up on long term prognosticators forecasts, but have slipped away by the time they made it to New England's front door.
The next few weeks should see a breakdown of the cold air mass that has dominated our area for the past two weeks. This air mass should decay in the 9-14 day window with daytime temps approaching mid thirties by next weekend. In the mix of warmer air cold be some snow fall as the weather pattern gets a little more active, but we will wait and see.
Tonight, we are expecting some snow showers and there is potential for more of the same the next couple of days. We will be resurfacing the entire mountain during this time, and the skiing should be fabulous.
We met yesterday to plan this seasons pentathalon on 3/23/13.
Last seasons event was a huge success and this years should be as well! There will be a sports expo and a demo day put on by Rossignol. Plus there will be a lot of competitors onsite to take part in our run, bike, boat, hike, ski. So put your team together (5 man, 2 man, or ironman) and take on this great, new, event.
Lastly, I really want to thank all of you for such being such a great group of customers. It is a blast to work with you all. The atmosphere around here is spectacular and I love driving in the parking lot everyday. We participate in an awesome sport and I am thankful everyday that I see the lodge, full of kids, learning ski, snowboard and enjoy the winter with friends and family.
Oftentimes, I let you in a some of the drama that goes on behind the scenes of Berkshire East, but its not to be a martyr, its let you in on what a 24 hour a day operation it is and to give credit to some of the folks who make the snow, and flip the burgers, and turn the lifts. At the end of the day though, you guys are the ones who write the story of Berkshire East, because without it, we'd be a big empty mountain.
