Summer Positions at Berkshire East

This summer is going to be our most exciting summer by far. Open positions now include: Zip Line Guides, Mountain Coaster Workers,  Lift Attendants, and Ticket Sellers.  Positions to be posted soon include Mountain Bike Guides and Mountain Bike Patrol.  Please check back here for updates.

Zip Line Guides:

Berkshire East Canopy Tours is looking for energetic and enthusiastic people to join our team as zip-line tour guides.  We are looking for staff who are people friendly and good with children.  Applicants must be at least age 18, be  comfortable working at heights, be physically fit, and must meet our weight requirements for zip-line tours.  You will be required to pass a Cori background check and guide training before being hired. Guides will also be required to have First Aid & CPR training which we will provide. Applicants are required to have a flexible schedule as hours vary. Guides must be available weekends, holidays, and some early evenings.

Guide training dates are:  June 5, 6, 7   or   June 8, 9,,10

Mountain Bike Guides:

Responsible for guiding and providing bike instruction to clients at Thunder Mountain Bike Park. All guides will be required to complete either a level 1 or level 2 guide course. Responsibilities include interacting with clients, providing orientation to bike park and bike instruction. Requirements include competent riding ability on all trails you guide, CPR and First Aid, good customer service skills, and strong communication skills. Must be available for all training courses. CORI background checks required. All applicants must be at least 18 years old.

Mountain  Bike Patrol:

Qualifications are:  Current Professional rescuer CPR; OEC, WFR, EMT, or better emergency first aid responder or other medical professionals with appropriate experience as determined by Mountain Management and Patrol Director, ability to safely navigate the terrain on a Bicycle and/or All Terrain Vehicle, ability to familiarize yourself with all trails, intersections and terrain prior to your first scheduled shift. Patroller responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

  • Report for duty each assigned day with an adequately and appropriately stocked patrol pack.
  • Become familiar with Thunder Mountain Bike Park first aid facilities, equipment and protocols.
  • Become familiar with Thunder Mountain Bike Park lifts including lift evacuation procedures and equipment.
  • Become familiar with all Thunder Mountain Bike Park facilities and trails.
  • Become familiar with all Thunder Mountain Bike Park communications protocols, including knowledge of all radio channels in use by other Berkshire East operations.
  • Respond in an expeditious manner via bicycle to any reported emergencies, wherever they occur on the mountain, and evaluate any injured guest. Provide emergency care as appropriate to any injured guest.
  • Participate in end of day Trail Sweep.
  • Be a good ambassador for Thunder Mountain Bike Park in all you do while on site and/or while wearing your Patrol Jersey.

 

Opening of bike park is scheduled for July 1. Patrollers will be starting in June to work out mountain logistics, participate in required guide training and familiarize themselves with the terrain, equipment and facilities.

 

Mountain Coaster Workers

Mountain Coaster workers will assist riders in loading and unloading coaster cars and provide them with instruction on safety protocols and the proper use of coaster cars. Responsibilities include verifying that all riders have tickets and wristbands and that they meet the age, weight and height requirements. Duties also include inspection of tracks and cars, maintaining loading and unloading ramps, maintaining daily logs, and keeping the general area and coaster cars clean. You will be in direct contact with our guests and are expected to be friendly and helpful when greeting and assisting them. You will be working outside in all types of weather and must be agile on rough terrain. Applicants must be at least age 18. Cori background checks are required. You must pass on on-site training session in order to be hired. These are part-time positions (up to 32 hours per week), including weekends and holidays.

Lift Attendants:  

Berkshire East is expanding our lift crew as we open our new Thunder Mountain bike park on July 1. Lift attendants will be responsible for monitoring the loading and unloading of guests & mountain bikes on chair and ground carpet lifts.  Guests will include those using our zip-lines and our bike park.  Lift attendants will instruct guests on proper use of lifts and are expected to be friendly and helpful when greeting and assisting them. You will also be responsible for checking lift tickets and/or bike passes for anyone using the lifts. You will be working outside in all types of weather. Duties include setting up fencing and maintaining loading and unloading ramps, and assisting with some ground work. These are part-time positions, up to 32 hours per week, and will run July 1 through October 31. Applicants must be age 18+. Cori background check required.

Ticket Sellers:

This position includes selling lift tickets, bike & gear rentals, bike lessons, and mountain coaster tokens. You must verify that each guest has properly completed our bike park and/or mountain coaster waiver forms. There is direct contact with our guests and you are expected to be friendly and helpful when greeting and assisting them. We need someone who is computer savvy and able to handle various types of sales transactions in a fast paced setting. Prior cashier experience is preferred. You will collect payment from guests and make accurate change for the transactions assuring that everyone pays correct price for products. These are part-time positions, up to 32 hours per week, starting late June through October 31.  Applicants must be age 18+

Hours are as follows:

Summer Hours: (July 1 — Sept 7): Friday and Saturday: 9:30AM — 6:30PM. Sunday, Monday, and Thursday: 9:30AM — 4:30PM.  Closed Tuesday & Wednesday.

Fall Hours: (Sept 8 — Oct 31), Friday, Saturday & Sunday  9:30AM — 4:30PM
